You have never been academically dismissed from UTSA:
- Have at least a cumulative C average (2.00 GPA on a 4.0 scale) in all college hours attempted since last enrolled at UTSA.
- Must be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
NOTE: UTSA students who have not enrolled in classes for less than three semesters and have not attended another college or university since leaving UTSA, may register for classes during the regular registration period.
You were academically dismissed from UTSA while in the provisional program:
- Have at least a C average (2.00 GPA on a 4.0 scale) in a minimum of 12-semester credits of transferable college coursework.
- Must be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
- You must submit a Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by the appropriate deadline. University College will render the petition decision. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does NOT set the admission requirements for those petitioning for reinstatement.
You were academically dismissed once from UTSA:
- Cannot attend UTSA for one full academic semester immediately following dismissal.
- Must have at least a cumulative C average (2.00 GPA on a 4.0 scale) in all college hours attempted since last enrolled at UTSA.
- Must be eligible to return to the most recent institution.
- You must submit a Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by the appropriate deadline. University College will render the petition decision. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does NOT set the admission requirements for those petitioning for reinstatement.
NOTE: If you are applying after a first dismissal with work in progress, you will be deferred for receipt of those grades. The Work in Progress MUST be received by the appropriate Deferred Deadline.
You have been academically dismissed twice from UTSA:
- Cannot attend UTSA for one full academic year (summer included) immediately following dismissal.
- You must submit a Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by the appropriate deadline. The academic college to which the application is submitted will render the decision. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions does NOT set the admission requirements for those petitioning for reinstatement.
NOTE: Students who have been dismissed three or more times are ineligible to petition for reinstatement.
Please Note: All previous college work will be considered. Students are not at liberty to disregard previous college work attempted. If you have attended other institutions of higher education since you were last enrolled at UTSA, you must submit an official transcript from each institution.
Please Note: When determining the cumulative grade point average for readmission, we will consider all coursework attempted since leaving UTSA, this includes repeated courses.
Re-Admission Process
- Submit an application.
- Pay a non-refundable $70 application fee* (fee waivers are not accepted for re-admission applicants).
- Submit official transcripts from every institutions attended after leaving UTSA. UTSA accepts electronic transcripts through E-Script, Naviance, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment and other Electronic eTranscript exchange systems.
- Submit Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by petition deadline if you have been academically dismissed from UTSA.
Reinstatement Petition Deadlines
Students who have been academically dismissed from UTSA must submit the official Petition for Undergraduate Reinstatement by the following petition deadline:
- Summer: March 15
- Fall: June 15
- Spring: October 15
Appeal for Undergraduate Admission
Applicants for admission and admitted students have the right to appeal decisions of the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Students requesting an appeal must submit the Appeal for Undergraduate Admission form and any other requested documents as outlined on the form (available here).
The appeal must be received by the appeal deadline for the term of the application. Deadlines that fall on a weekend or UTSA holiday will be extended until 5:00 p.m. the following business day.
