UTSA’s 100% online Bachelor of Business Administration in Cybersecurity program has been listed in the top 5 of the Best Online Bachelor’s Degrees in Cybersecurity of 2024, according to Forbes.com. Coming in at No. 5 in the Nation, UTSA was listed among the best based on the program’s credibility, affordability, student outcomes, student experience, and application process in comparison to 30 accredited, nonprofit colleges offering online cybersecurity bachelor’s degrees in the United States.

Forbes selected UTSA’s online BBA in Cybersecurity because students learn “to defend organizations from various cyberthreats in flexible classes.” With UTSA’s 100% online program, students don’t have any on campus requirements. Additionally, with UTSA Online, students pay one flat rate per credit hour, with no amenity fees and no out-of-state tuition.
The degree program, which is taught by faculty in UTSA’s Carlos Alvarez College of Business, launched in 2017. Offering identical content to the in-person program, students learn about digital forensics, network security, cyber analytics, secure design, and malware analysis from top-tier faculty who are experts in the cybersecurity landscape. Blending technical and theoretical knowledge, the degree program allows students to be well-rounded, but also to focus on unique specialty areas.
Forbes was also impressed that UTSA is designated a Center for Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency and holds accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business as well.
UTSA is one of a few universities nationally — and the only Hispanic Serving Institution — to hold all three National Center of Academic Excellence designations from the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cybersecurity sector is expected to grow 32% over the next 10 years with the need for over 700,000 cybersecurity professionals in the United States alone.
