If you’re interested in the MA in Multidisciplinary Studies degree, please note certificate hours do not need to be evenly split. You’ll need 30 total graduate hours plus the specific requirements of each certificate. For example, if you combine the National Security Studies certificate (9 required hours), with the Data Science program (15 required hours), you would need to take an additional 6 credit hours at the master’s level.

Applications are submitted through the UTSA Graduate Application. Please upload all required documents (listed below) on your UTSA Graduate Application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure completion and submission of the application, a nonrefundable application fee, and all required supporting documents are on file with UTSA by the appropriate application deadline.

Multidisciplinary Studies Master’s Prerequisites
You must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university in the United States or have proof of equivalent training at a foreign institution. Your degree should be in the fields related to the certificate programs of interest.
To maintain enrollment in the Multidisciplinary Studies graduate program, you must maintain a 3.0 grade point average throughout your tenure in the program.

Tuition for the Multidisciplinary Studies master’s program is $550 per credit hour.
To be eligible for Financial Aid, you must be enrolled in a minimum of 4 credit hours per semester.
If you’re taking less than 4 credit hours per semester, you can benefit from other payment options available.
Applicants for admission to the Multidisciplinary Studies master’s program must satisfy all University-wide graduate admission requirements. Additional requirements may be required for the specific certificates you choose.
If you choose the online Bilingual Education certificate, you must be able to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish.
If you choose the Facility Management certificate, you must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, architecture, sciences, business, or other facility management-related fields and disciplines. Practicing facility managers with at least two years’ experience in facility management and a bachelor’s degree in other fields may also be admitted.
Applicants choosing the Data Science certificate may be asked to complete preliminary online coursework on pre-calculus and/or computer science to prepare for some content of that certificate program.
No testing is required. Submission of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional.
It typically takes approximately two years to complete the 30 credit hours required for UT San Antonio’s 100% online Multidisciplinary Studies master’s program. You may finish faster by taking a heavier course load, if your personal and professional circumstances permit.
